49th Parallel: American Studies Journal

If you are looking for somewhere to publish your research, an American Studies e-journal, 49th Parallel, is looking for contributors and it sounds like it would be an excellent option for scholars at the start of their careers looking to get their work published.

The journal is fully peer-reviewed so it will be rigorous in its selection of material to publish. The journal is emphasising an inter-disciplinary approach and one that considers ‘America’ in its broadest sense.

They are looking for articles of 5000-7000 words. If you are interested, check out their website here.

E-journals are becoming more prominent in the publishing market place, and while there is still prejudice against them in some quarters, most scholars accept that they are an important outlet for publishing work that might be unsuitable for the mainstream heavyweight paper journals.

And as the publishers of 49th Parallel suggest, an e-journal also offers exciting multimedia opportunities as well, so authors can get creative and use video or MP3 as well as images to illustrate their paper.
