Social networking: a new idea!

Many lecturers have real problems with the idea of integrating social networking into their teaching because of its association with leisure activities (think of what the majority of us do on Facebook: it certainly isn’t professional networking!). A new site has been developed with the aim of making more formal academic networking a possibility, so could it work?

Permanent versus temporary lecturers

Job Hunting New Year’s Resolutions!

Happy New Year! I wonder what 2010 has to offer for the job hunters and career builders among us? Every financial prediction for the university sector in the UK is woeful, so this is a worrying time for all, even those who have seemingly secure, permanent positions. But on a positive note, what can we all do to make sure that we build exciting and rewarding careers in the next 12 months?
