Planning a research trip

One of the joys of academic life (in my field anyway) is that I get to travel the world and work at the same time.  And because the travel is not high pressure and regular, I can really appreciate the experience, unlike those in sales who are on the road constantly. Jobs outside university

Commuting: make the most of your time

I am now half way through my third year of doing a long commute (Coventry to Manchester) which takes two hours each way. I can tell by the expressions on people’s faces when I tell them about my journey to work that this sort of commute is not for everyone. But I have no problems with it, and even enjoy it!
