Earth Oceans and Comets

Ocean a word originated from Greek language “Okeanos” meaning saline. Oceans cover earth’s 71% of surface. An ocean have oceanic crust covered by water. The name of the major oceans on earth are listed below

1- Pacific Ocean
2- Atlantic Ocean
3- Indian Ocean
4- Southern Ocean
5- Arctic Ocean

Ocean emits visible glow termed as bioluminescence. Recently astronomers identified water molecules in Comet Hartley’s crust. The combination of hydrogen atom (as deuterium, light) are the same as the water in earth ocean. There have been an assumption from the scientist whether they find the origin of water on earth. Is this just a coincidence that the comet water molecule resemble with earth water combination. Or in actual the meteorite and comets were the reason for water on earth.

Usually this idea sparks by keeping in thought that earth during creation was hot like fireball. If any water could have been present it might be evaporated. Still 71% of earth is covered by water. But also history have proven that where ever a comet or meteorite fell on the earth surface never raised the amount of water but instead destroyed the vegetation and evaporated the lakes around the area of fall. Using infrared spectrometer having high sensitivity, Herschel is on its research for finding the truth behind all the present and past events. No statement due to the puzzled events of history could be made until scientific proofs are made. Also what type of benefits could be acquired after knowing the truth. Might if we could produce water on the moon as well by artificial method same as comets approach.

About Marium Anum

I have spent more than 8 years in technology field starting from simple data collection job to development of high computing multi threaded distributed communication benchmark. I am still amazed by the digital communication field after putting so much time. Except of that my professional fantasies are space and beening aircraft pilot. Exploring space, earth nature and technology is my profession prospectives. Along with looking for PhD research opporunity. Recently I was working in Lancaster University, doing research in Spear Group which is purely related to Space Physics studies and research. Besides that I was participating in environment rehabilitation in and around the university. From here I received my Satellite Communication Masters.
