Yes folks, I’m off again on my travels.
This time I’m heading West. To Portland, Maine USA to be precise.
We’re exhibiting at the CUPA-HR 2008 Eastern Region Conference. This runs between 6th – 9th May with the theme of, “HR: Guiding the Way Life Should Be”. I’m looking forward to that I can tell you!
We’ve been very impressed with the CUPA conferences we’ve attended so far. The atmosphere is much more positive and ‘can-do’ than we’ve experienced at equivalent events in the UK.
This will be in part, no doubt, to the wider ‘go get ‘em!’ American culture. But it’s also, I think, a more robust view of Human Resources that pervails in US Higher Education.
The HR people I meet at CUPA conferences are much clearer about the importance of HR and the positive contribution it can make to an academic institution.
So, whilst I do my best to soak in some of that positivity, I’ll also try and blog during the week I’m away.
Ciao.
