Yes, yes a thousand times yes. Applications have such a low hit rate that it's just ridiculous to invest that much effort. CV and covering letter. Long form with compatibly questions in the context of the job AND a covering letter is what interviews are for. It's already a very asymmetric relationship, on the employer happily wasting the applicants time, in the first place.

Job searching is really strating to be conducted mostly in the internet. Social media platforms are merging leisure and work. I am not sure wether it is good or bad, but it seems inevitable - so we better embrace it :) Companies also benefit, since talented people have a bigger arena to show and advertise their skills.

Not many people are properly trained in how to behave in the social media environment and many messages miss the targeted audience. I think that a proper set of social media training should be mandatory for a recruiter or a manager.

It is a give and take relationship for the both parties. Yes, there are plenty of ways to motivate your staff but the important thing is to treat them right. Plus, it isn't surprising that money is a motivator for people now, I mean this is what people need, for goods and services. Maybe when the crisis is over then that will be the time that they will have a different outlook/motivations.

interesting article but is it still up-to-date ?

Have heard about recruiters who examine candidates profiles in Linkedin, FB and Twitter.

The time proved us that Google+ cant beat Facebook.. Good try but could reach the popularity of Mark Zuckerberg's social network
