Good points. I try my best to be fair to the others, but for most people, especially those in Europe or who want to work in a chain of schools with a British connection (more than you'd think), those are the safest choices

Hi Alex, thanks for your comment. As you rightly say, there are other respectable qualifications out there. I mentioned those two as they are the most well-known. Interestingly, you can count Trinity TESOL as university credit with some institutions (see, for example, http://www3.open.ac.uk/credit-transfer/professional/inst000101.shtm).

Please keep up the great work on your blog, Alex! I'll try not to pilfer too much!

Thanks for the mention and nice words, and good summary of the advice. I wouldn't go as far as saying only take Cambridge or Trinity, but there needs to be a good reason to take other courses such as being more about the kinds of classes you will teach or getting more university credits (that you will actually use) to make up for the fact that no other qualifications have the same name recognition from employers and further training institutions (e.g. if you want to do the LCCI Teaching English for Business or a TEFL Diploma).

TEFLista doesn't actually have a blog, although I keep on saying it would be a good idea, so maybe "TEFL campaigner" is a better description
