Blog disclosure page
You should see what follows as a “full disclosure” to help you evaluate the information and resources on this blog.
1. Who runs this site?
Me (Ben Davies). I am a teacher of English who lives in Japan, although I spend as much time as I can writing this blog for jobs.ac.uk, which is part of the University of Warwick.
My blog is published as part of the Career Development section of jobs.ac.uk, a site that aims to help our jobseekers in their hunt for a career in the academic world.
2. Who pays for this blog?
It’s hosted on jobs.ac.uk’s existing servers and is part of the wider running costs of the operation. It doesn’t cost much to run.
3. What is the purpose of the blog?
My TEFL Journey is a blog about teaching English as a foreign language. I am based in Japan, but I hope my advice and information is useful to teachers worldwide.
The purpose of the blog is to provide advice, thoughts, experiences and comments on teaching methods, TEFL qualifications, and the TEFL industry.
4. Where does the information come from?
I’m the first to admit that I’m not the most experienced teacher in the world, but I hope as I take this TEFL journey and share my thoughts, you will have an insight into some of the highs and lows of teaching abroad.
I often research my information using
- TEFL webpages, such as TEFL.com, and Dave’s ESL Cafe
- books
- stuff on Google
- my own students
Plus discussions with other teachers, both young and old.
5. What is the basis of the information?
This is my personal blog, and contains my thoughts and opinions.
These views are not representative of the opinion, professional or otherwise, of jobs.ac.uk or the University of Warwick.
My views should also not to be considered as ‘professional advice’ and you are advised to take other advice and information into account before acting upon anything contained in this blog.
Having said that, I hope the information in this blog is informative and useful.
6. How is the information selected?
As I am currently working as an English teacher, a lot of my information comes from practical experience. Other people are bound to have different experiences, and I would certainly welcome any comments from readers to correct my information, or offer an alternative viewpoint.
7. How current is the information?
I try to keep abreast of the developments in the world of TEFL, and I use as many solid facts as I can. If there are any significant changes I’ll let you know.
8. How does the site choose links to other sites?
If I read a blog or site that I think will be useful to the readers of this blog, then I’ll link to it in the ‘Blogroll’ (in the right hand navigation).
You can access other sites via links contained in this blog. These sites are normally directly related to the topic of the post. These sites are not under our control and we are not responsible in any way for any of their contents.
9. What information about you does the site collect, and why?
At jobs.ac.uk we use Google Analytics and Nedstats to track visitors to the site
You can read what we do with this data by checking out our Privacy Policy.
10. How does the blog manage interactions with visitors?
At the end of my blogs, I normally invite comments. This is the time for you to let me know what you think. If your opinion is totally contrary to mine, that’s fine! If you have something constructive to add, please let me know. Just, please, no spam.
11. Where did I get the idea for a blog full disclosure page from?
From Andrew Gordon, who runs the Simply. Better. blog, also on www.jobs.ac.uk.
