The transport infrastructure in Brazil varies widely across the country. The country has 30,000 km of railway, but much of it is underfunded. A high speed route between Sao Paulo and Rio de Janiero is being planned.

The state of Brazil’s highways is also variable, with only 5% of the country’s roads being paved. Car ownership is low, but is higher than the comparable economies of China and India.

Most international flights enter the country via Sao Paulo or Rio de Janiero. Brazil has over 700 airports with paved runways and because of the size of the country is a useful means of transport.
