About the University
Edge Hill University is one of the fastest growing universities in the United Kingdom. Edge Hill has been providing higher education for 125 years, based on an ethos of opportunity through
excellence. We are ranked within the top 20 of the Sunday Times 75 Best Companies to Work for in the Public Sector, with 96% of staff believing we are a great place to work.
The past five years have seen student applications double, and turnover increase at a rate of around 20% per annum. We are an ambitious and dynamic organisation; some sense of our achievements and ambitions are demonstrated by the following indicators:
- We are financially healthy, consistently generating surpluses in the order of 8% of income for reinvestment, far exceeding sector norms.
- With limited borrowings we have ambitious but realisable plans to double the built size of our campus and invest over £150m in new facilities in the next decade, adding to the £130m invested over the last ten years.
- We have a strong externally-evidenced reputation for the quality of our learning, teaching and student support, and perform consistently well (placed second in the northwest) in the NSS and on graduate employability.
- The student population is around 25,000 and staff numbers 4000, over the last few years, the University has made successful bids for over 1,000 additional student numbers.
- We have embarked on a long term plan to review and invest in our research base.
- We are in the top ten UK Universities for a number of indicators: Graduate Employment, Student's Personal Development, Courses and Lecturers, Financial Aid to Students and Value for Money.
