Welcome to Goldsmiths
Founded in 1891, Goldsmiths has been part of the University of London since
1904. Fifteen academic departments - together with smaller centres and units
- interact to provide a unique approach to creative, cognitive, cultural and
social subjects.
We offer undergraduate, postgraduate, part time, professional and adult education
programmes in a wide range of subjects including the creative and performing
arts, humanities, teacher training and social and computing sciences. With
students from all round the world, and a high proportion of mature students,
the College has a lively single campus which makes it an especially welcoming
place to work and to study.
Our location
Goldsmiths is in New Cross, South East London, with excellent transport connections
to and from central London, Kent, Surrey and Sussex. Blackheath and Greenwich’s
open spaces are also close by.
A lively and welcoming place to work
Goldsmiths has a unique atmosphere, partly created by the combination of subjects,
and partly by the diverse backgrounds and ages of the staff and students
we attract. We have approximately 1,450 staff, including 330 academics, and
about 570 visiting tutors (hourly paid teaching staff); many are highly respected
practitioners in their specialist areas. We aim to be in the forefront of
accredited staff development; we offer a range of opportunities to all staff
including in-house training and development.
Facilities include the Rutherford Information Services Building bringing
together library, IT and language learning in one building; a refectory and
café;
bank; nursery; Students' Union including a new shop and newly refurbished bar
areas; sports facilities including a stunning new, fully air-conditioned fitness
suite with 90 exercise stations, spinning bikes, and a dance studio offering
a programme of classes.
Please visit Goldsmiths' website for
