The University of Huddersfield provides high quality higher education to approximately 24,000 students. As well as teaching excellence, the University also focuses on high quality research. In the most recent Research Assessment Exercise (RAE), Music, History, English, Education, Social Work, Engineering, Computing, Accountancy and Sociology achieved results that were classified as ‘world leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’. This knowledge feeds into degree courses to ensure they are relevant, up to date and challenging in their content. As a result, Huddersfield is one of the top 10 UK universities for student satisfaction.
The University’s degrees are relevant to industry and many courses have professional body recognition. 70% of students work with employers as part of their degree and courses are designed to help them make an immediate impact in the workplace. Huddersfield students work with over 1,000 organisations including the BBC, Microsoft, Apple, BMW, Jaguar, Rolls Royce, Glaxo Smith Kline, Cadbury and the Post office. The University is also one of the UK’s top 10 providers of sandwich courses and is in the top 10 for employability - 94% of students go on to work and/or study within six months of graduating.
We employ over 700 academic staff, and about 1000 administrative, technical and support staff. Huddersfield offers its staff a supportive and inspiring working environment in which development is actively encouraged, demonstrated by the University’s retention of the Investors in People standard.
