We are currently seeking to appoint a Science Portfolio Advisor to join the Department of Pathogens, Immunology and Population Health. Working within the Populations and Public Health stream, the post-holder will be responsible for developing the Trust's portfolio of public health research into communicable and non-communicable diseases.
This exciting role, within the Trust's Science Funding Division, involves keeping abreast of relevant scientific field(s), liaising with internal and external stakeholders and developing and managing defined aspects of the Trust's Populations and Public Health research funding portfolio. It will include contributing to the development of new initiatives and may involve working in partnership with other funders. The role also involves working with Funding, Interview and Strategy Committees when required, organising the peer review of research proposals and documenting committee discussions.
You will be a biomedical or health science graduate with a higher degree (Masters, PhD) and/or substantial research experience relevant to public health. Experience gained in an academic or funding agency environment is desirable. In addition you will be able to demonstrate:
- Ability to see the 'big picture' and identify scientific potential and opportunities.
- Evidence of communicating populations and public health science effectively and confidently with individuals and groups both internally and externally.
- The ability to work effectively both independently and within a team/matrix structure.
