Excellent healthcare for every Londoner: that's the challenge we've set ourselves at NHS London. As the capital's strategic health authority, we're passionately committed to improving performance, increasing accessibility and developing the skills of the NHS workforce.

The role

Commissioning world-class education is key to meeting our objectives. It is essential that our processes and practices, as well as our relationships with education and training providers, are best in class.

You'll help us transform education commissioning by building on best practice from across the health economy. You will lead on the delivery of a re-designed education planning process and ensure that deadlines and milestones are met and achieved. This will include:

  • devising an annual planning process and contributing to plans for future years
  • monitoring the education planning process and addressing issues as they arise
  • identifying policy issues which may impact on the education planning process and recommending how to manage them
  • working with education providers to ensure that quality assurance data is utilised.
The person

You'll need a good understanding of education commissioning policy and processes in both health and higher education. With significant experience in one or both of these sectors, you'll have a proven grasp of the key concepts of service planning and experience of developing and delivering plans against targets and deadlines.

Experience of project management and programme management, ideally using a tool such as Prince2 or Microsoft Project, is essential. Analytical and highly numerate, you'll have excellent interpersonal communication and relationship- building skills.
