If you've a proven track record of carrying out research in the public sector, this is the next step in your career - shaping a newly created role which involves taking a strategic overview of research to influence the decision-making of a major regulatory organisation.

The GDC protects the public by regulating dental professionals and working tirelessly to uphold the highest standards in the profession. But we need evidence to develop policy and achieve our aims, and as part of the QA team you will be responsible for designing and implementing a corporate research strategy.

Personally carrying out some research as well as commissioning the work of third party organisations, you will be responsible for ongoing research projects but also generating new ideas - then seeing them through from proposal stage through to presenting your findings to various audiences. Advising the organisation on how to manage research, including the use of bibliographic tools, will also be an important element of your role.

A graduate or equivalent in social sciences or another relevant discipline, your research, policy or information management experience should show an understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies. Self-driven, you will need knowledge of the regulatory environment, the ability to analyse and present your findings, plus familiarity with MS Office and strong planning skills.

In return, we offer a competitive package of benefits including contributory final salary pension scheme and life assurance, flexible working hours, interest-free season ticket loan and 30 days' annual holiday.

You can view the role profile and apply via www.gdc-uk.org

Closing date: 2nd April 2010.
The GDC champions equality and celebrates diversity and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.
