Senior Researcher, Strategy Department

Reports to the Director of the Strategy Department and carries out activities for firm-centered research of excellence. He/she must Interact with the Basque firms as well as the other relevant agents of competitiveness. He/she must have capacities for specialized Instruction in the area of strategy. The mission of the job will be aligned with that of the Institute and will convey to society the results of the studies and activities conducted. Must have competencies for engaging in dialogue with the other existing chairs, both from an academic standpoint and in terms of relations with the political and economic environment. The priority focus areas for supporting the increase of competitive advantages and creation of value among Basque companies entail the review of their:

  • Innovation processes
  • Internationalization processes, strategies and results
  • Internal resources and strategies for creating value: scope, size, organizational structures, etc.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. from a prestigious university. Should also have at least 7 years of experience, a demonstrated capacity for leadership and coordinating research groups. The successful candidate will have previously contributed as both a leader and an author in research projects with competitive external funding, and have authored books or articles published in renowned international journals. Should have a demonstrated academic recognition and access to networks of excellence.

Requirements: fluency in English and basic/intermediate knowledge of Spanish.

Applicants must have also developed their own personal criteria for dealing with problems of certain complexity using diverse solutions. This implies compiling, analyzing and evaluating information based on the data and arriving at recommendations or decisions. Should also be open to new ways of working, participating and promoting the so-called 3'is of the Institute: Investigation (Research) of excellence, specialized Instruction, and Interaction with the agents of competitiveness. Must also demonstrate the ability to establish constructive relationships with the Institute's other departments and with the relevant agents of competitiveness, particularly with those from the regional area of the Basque Country, as well as Spain and Europe.

The opening is for a full-time, permanent position at the Basque Institute of Competitiveness. Can be completed with teaching at the Deusto Business School and/or University of Deusto, provided that all parties are interested (Orkestra included).

Remuneration will be based on the candidate's merits and experience.
