What does a Pipeline Scientist do?

This is an office role within the Pipeline Team based in the Cambridge PDM. We are seeking an experienced scientist to coordinate the development of new products and their launch onto Abcam’s catalogue.

The job holder will support the process of product initiation. The job holder will work with Abcam’s Marketing Team to understand key product requirements and ensure that these are communicated to the production teams in Hangzhou, China and Cambridge, UK. The job holder will review new validation data to ensure high product quality and coordinate any additional testing that may be required for product release. The Pipeline Coordinator will also work closely with colleagues in Supply Chain and Logistics to ensure global stock availability ahead of product launch. They will continue to oversee new products (sales, stock, and complaints) as they transition into core products and coordinate actions with relevant stakeholders as required.

Duties:

  • Work with the Monoclonal Pipeline Manager and Primary Antibody Team to ensure targets are prioritised and initiated in line with the Operational model.
  • Review new product data to ensure high product quality.
  • Coordinate additional testing with Production and QC teams and the completion of all actions required for product launch.
  • Support other Pipeline Team activities and tasks as required
  • Ensure all relevant processes are documented in operating manuals or SOPs
  • Coordinate the launch of new products produced in Hangzhou onto the Abcam website.
  • Track products on catalogue to ensure stock and complaint issues are flagged and the required action initiated.
  • Oversee the initiation, testing and launch of products flagged as high priority or requiring bespoke attention and support collaborator testing.
  • Ensure metrics and reports are in place for communication on areas of responsibility. Report on relevant KPIs to stakeholders.

About You

You will be educated to at least degree level in biological sciences, with a knowledge of the principles of antibody generation. Post doc or industrial experience in cell signalling or immunology would be advantageous.

You will be comfortable building relationships across the business and will have strong communication skills. You will be able to influence others and be proactive in coming up with improvements to processes and systems. You will be strongly analytical and methodical and enjoy working to targets and deadlines.
