Chair of Avian Genetics or Avian Biology & Director of NARF

The Roslin Institute is one of the National Institutes of Bioscience funded strategically by the BBSRC and has a world-leading reputation in animal sciences. The mission of the Institute is to improve productivity, health and welfare of livestock species, through research into host-pathogen interactions, physiology, developmental biology and genetics, utilizing state-of-the-art technologies as well as transgenics and bioinformatics.

The National Avian Research Facility (NARF) (www.narf.ac.uk) was founded in 2013. It is supported by the University of Edinburgh, BBSRC, Roslin Foundation and Wellcome Trust and provides the UK with a national resource for the study of avian biology, genetics, infection and disease. NARF is a partnership between The Roslin Institute and The Pirbright Institute, both of which are National Institutes of Bioscience funded strategically by the BBSRC. 

The Institute seeks to make a senior appointment with an innovative and ambitious individual with integrity, energy and a passion for their work. You will develop an independent research programme and be expected to supervise graduate students and attract external funding and to contribute to the development and implementation of informatics resources. Core duties will be research focussed, but the post will also include delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate taught provision. You will contribute to the development and implementation of Institute Strategic Programmes funded by BBSRC.

The position will be supported by core funding from The Roslin Institute, and an appropriate start-up package will be available.

You will be required to participate in enhancing eLearning and on-line teaching initiatives.
