The Digital Creativity Hub (DC Hub) is a major (£18 million) investment by three UK research councils, four universities, and over 80 collaborative partner organisations to create a world centre of excellence for impact-driven research, focusing on digital games, interactive media and the rich space where they converge. The main DC Hub site is York, with “spoke” sites at the Cass Business School, Goldsmiths (University of London) and Falmouth University. The DC Hub builds further upon other projects led by the University of York including the £12 million EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Intelligent Games and Game Intelligence.

The DC Hub builds on a huge research base of 84 Digital Economy research grants in the past 10 years, with total size of over £90 million. We have a growing group of more than 80 collaborative partners (over half of them small- and medium-sized) across digital games, media, heritage, museums and galleries, education, healthcare and analytics. We also have strong support from key organisations such as the Knowledge Transfer Network, TIGA, UKIE, Game Republic, Creative England, funding agencies and local and national government.

The DC Hub will bring together researchers, industry, government, the third sector and the general public to co-create the means for interaction and expression in the future digital society, jointly realising the huge potential of games and interactive media for economic, social and cultural impact.
