Summary: The Department of Philosophy is looking for a Research Associate to work on an ESRC Professorial Fellowship project devoted to the probabilistic modelling of linguistic knowledge.
Details: The successful candidate must have their PhD in hand by the date of the application. Required knowledge and skills include good programming ability in languages like Python, C++, Java, and Perl, experience with natural language corpus work, and a solid background in probabilistic models of syntax and statistical NLP.
The successful candidate will be a full participant in the research of the project, helping to design, implement, and test an enriched stochastic language model that generates graded grammaticality judgements for sentences. They will co-author papers with the PI and other members of the project team, attend conferences, and present the results of the project’s research in public forums

Salary: The appointment will be made at Grade 6, currently £31,331 - £36,298 per annum, plus £2,323 per annum London Allowance.
Post duration: Fixed term contract for 25 months with a start date of 1 September 2013.
