Assistant Professors in Mobility and Urban Studies

Roskilde University -Department of Environmental, Social and Spatial Change (ENSPAC)

There are two assistant professorships available at the Department of Environmental, Social and Spatial Change (ENSPAC) within the department’s Mobility and Urban Studies strength area. One assistant professor is expected to teach in Planning Studies (Plan, By og Process). The other assistant professor should teach in Human Geography, while also expected to contribute to Planning Studies. Both positions are also expected to teach in the Social Science Bachelor Programme and/or the Humanities and Technology Bachelor Programme. The department puts emphasis on applicants’ ability to contribute to our orientation to interdisciplinary work, social relevance and experimentation.

The positions are open from August 2013 and are limited to a period of 3 years. Open announcements of associate professorships follow.

To be eligible for the positions, applicants must have documented research experience equivalent to a Ph.D. degree. It is an advantage to document scientific production at an international level. We also expect applicants to contribute to developing the department’s research milieu, in cooperation with colleagues.

The application should include:

  • A scientific description of the research area the applicants will work in (max. 2 pages)
  • CV
  • Publication list. Indicate the publications included specifically included (see below) for the evaluation of the applicant for the position
  • Diplomas and grade transcripts
  • Up to 5 publications. The evaluation committee can require additional material if necessary.

The evaluation of applicants is done by a scientifically relevant evaluation committee.

Employment will take place in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Central Organization of the Academics. 

Successful candidates who do not speak Danish (or possibly Swedish or Norwegian) will be requested to acquire the necessary skills in Danish within the first two years' of service, so as to ensure that they can participate satisfactorily in teaching activities as well as in academic and administrative activities at the University. At the time of appointment, successful candidates must master English for academic purposes.
