BUE is a recently (2005) established Egyptian university 35 kms east of Cairo delivering a British style of education, based on the UK QAA model and with a strong emphasis on research. It aims to be a leading research and teaching University in Egypt and the Region, providing quality British Higher Education. It has a student population of more than 3000 in six Faculties, with plans for substantial growth.
Most of its programmes are validated by Loughborough University and successful graduates receive both a UK degree and a BUE degree. BUE also has four well established Research Centres and all academic staff are expected to be active in research and pedagogic development.
The Department of Political Science of the Faculty of Business Administration, Economics and Political Science is seeking to appoint Lecturers / Associate Professors / Professors with relevant knowledge and experience in any of the following fields:
- American Studies
- Comparative Politics
- Consular and Diplomatic Affairs
- International Law.
Job Description
Teaching
- To teach undergraduate and postgraduate students and conduct related assessments using an appropriate range of methods and approaches
- To provide academic support and advice to undergraduate students
- To engage in the evaluation and development of modules and take responsibility in terms of content, delivery and assessment
- To cooperate with colleagues in the continuous review and development of the Department’s taught programmes and curriculum
- To develop proactively a teaching profile that meets the needs of the Department and its students
Research
- To manage research projects and, as appropriate, supervise student research projects
- To publish the outcomes of research in journals of international standing and at international conferences
- To help set the research agenda for key aspects of research in the subject area
- To raise research funding from appropriate bodies and organisations.
- To provide research supervision and mentoring
Other Related Activities and Functions
- To engage in training programmes and Staff Development that is consistent with individual needs and aspirations and those of the Department and its students
- To carry out specified administrative roles and functions
- To undertake such other duties as may be reasonably requested and that are commensurate with the nature and grade of the post
Person Specification
- PhD in a relevant subject specialism preferably from a UK University
- Broad general experience in the academic discipline
- Ability and experience in teaching all years of a degree programme
- Potential for developing and exploring new teaching methods
- Recent relevant experience of British Higher Education
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- High level computer skills
- Ability to operate in a multi-cultural environment
- Flexible and able to work in teams
