Salary Band - £26,282 - £37,040 per annum

HNR conducts nutrition research and surveillance to improve the health of the population with a focus on obesity and metabolic risk, musculoskeletal health, intestinal health and nutritional inequalities.

The aim of the Nutrition and Bone Health Group (NBH) is to identify the role of nutrition and lifestyle in the optimisation of bone health and the reduction of osteoporosis and rickets risk within the wider context of nutrition policy for calcium and vitamin D in developed and developing countries. Studies are organised within three inter-linking theme areas, each led by a senior scientific theme leader in Cambridge under the leadership of Dr Ann Prentice; calcium, vitamin D and population health; bone health through the life course; metabolic aspects of bone health.

We wish to appoint an Investigator Scientist to conduct research investigating the characterisation of a healthy bone phenotype at different stages of life, and in different populations. The post holder will be required to take the lead in managing and progressing their work to a high scientific standard working in the ‘Bone health through the life course’ theme with a particular emphasis on healthy ageing.

Applicants for this post will have a PhD or equivalent qualification in a biological or medical science; experience of physiology research; and knowledge or experience of different stages of life and/or lifestyle with respect to nutrition and musculoskeletal health and/ or physiological measurements.

This is a full time position offered on an open ended contract with salary dependent on qualifications and experience. In addition to salary we offer a flexible pay and reward policy, 30 days annual leave, free on site car parking and membership of MRC’s final salary pension scheme.
