The Department of Politics and International Relations in association with St Edmund Hall College invites applications for the Jarvis Doctorow Research Fellow in the Politics and International Relations of the Middle East. The field is defined broadly to include applicants whose research is comparative across the region or focused on particular countries. Applicants with either Politics or International Relations backgrounds are welcome as is a plurality of disciplinary approaches.

This full-time post, based in Oxford, is available from 1 October 2013 (or as soon as possible thereafter) for a fixed-term of 2 years.

The Research Fellowship is intended to provide an opportunity for an outstanding academic at the beginning of his/her career and combines undertaking independent research with teaching at both undergraduate and graduate level. The postholder will be based in the Department of Politics and International Relations and will be elected to a non-stipendiary Research Fellowship at St Edmund Hall College.

The successful candidate will have a completed doctorate, or evidence of imminent completion, in the field of Politics or International Relations as it is applied to the Middle East, strong research skills and a strong publication record. The ability to teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels is essential together with excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills. 

Experience of undertaking independent research is desirable.
