PhD Studentship – Architectural Heritage

Starting October 2013 

Based in the Digital Building Heritage Group at De Montfort University in Leicester the successful applicant for this fully funded PhD studentship will work with English Heritage, Britain’s leading public sector heritage organisation to explore methods of 3D digital interpretation of nationally important historic properties. With a strong background in architecture, an interest in architectural history and with experience of architectural 3D modelling the PhD will develop potential future means of overcoming existing physical and logistical difficulties associated with promoting and explaining complex historic sites and buildings to a more demanding, technically literate and device enabled public.

This research opportunity builds on our excellent past achievements and looking forward to REF2014 and beyond. It will develop the university’s research capacity into new and evolving areas of study, enhancing DMU’s national and international research partnerships. 

Applications are invited from UK or EU students with a good first degree (First, 2:1 or equivalent) in a relevant subject. Doctoral scholarships are available for up to three years full-time study starting October 2013 and provide a bursary of £13,770pa in addition to university tuition fees.
