Entry level training position for recent undergraduates focused on rapid development of skills necessary to support scientific projects. Designed to be a rapid-pass-through level with rapid accumulation of skills and experience.

Job Responsibilities
Science

  • Assists with site recruitment, site contracting and IRB submissions, site management, and site training.
  • Assists with data collection, including traveling for one-on-one interviews and co-moderating focus groups.
  • Drafts, reviews, and assists with reports, dossiers, protocols, etc. under supervision of more senior staff members.
  • Assists with article extraction and searches for literature reviews under supervision of more senior staff members.
  • Works with Quality Assurance to maintain electronic and paper study files, as well as other administrative duties.

Project Management

  • Fulfils job responsibilities under supervision of more senior scientific staff members. None to limited client contact.
  • None to very limited project-related travel (0 – 5% of the time).

Financial & Business Development

  • No proposal writing requirement of this position, although individuals may choose to work on sections of selected proposals if interested.

OR Operations Support

  • Conforming to SOPs and other MEDCO trainings
  • Attends trainings for Outcomes Research-related tasks and skills

Minimum Education Level/Years of Experience
BA/BS and less than two years' experience (or equivalent thereof in outcomes research/or related field)

Computer programming or software skills required for position
Required: MS Word, PPT, Excel, Outlook; ability to use Access with interface provided
Optional: ATLAS.ti, EndNote, DataFax

Specific skills or knowledge required for position

  • Understanding of basic research methods and statistics
  • Ability to multitask (i.e handle several projects simultaneously)
  • Sharp attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Degree, interest, or experience in science or health-related fields preferred
  • Scientific writing experience preferred
