Applications from scholars working in any geographical area are welcomed, but an ability to develop and teach specialised courses in the history of 20th century China is essential.

The Department enjoys long-standing relationships with several Chinese universities, involving staff and student exchanges. The successful candidate will be expected to oversee and develop this relationship.

We seek an ambitious individual, with a demonstrable track record of high quality teaching and research, whose work complements our existing strengths. Candidates are expected to have a profile of high quality publications, and well developed plans for future research.

The successful candidate will join a thriving, collegial department with a commitment to interdisciplinary study and a student community which is both well-qualified and intellectually ambitious. Good communication skills, and an ability to work productively as part of a friendly team-oriented department are essential for this position.
