Statistician
University of Dundee -Medicine
Summary of Job Purpose and Principal Duties
Duration of employment: 15 months maximum
Project end date 30/09/14
Reporting to: Professor Bruce Guthrie, Professor of Primary Care Medicine (PHS and DQIP trial analysis) and Professor Peter Donnan, Professor of Epidemiology and Biostatistics (DEBU and statistical supervision)
We wish to appoint a post-doctoral statistician to a 15 month (maximum), full-time, joint post in the Population Health Sciences Division and the Dundee Epidemiology and Biostatistics Unit. PHS and DEBU are co-located in purpose built premises with excellent specialised IT support and controlled, free car parking. Working with Professor Guthrie and supervised by Professor Donnan, you will lead on the analysis of the DQIP trial (http://www.implementationscience.com/content/7/1/24). DQIP is a stepped-wedge, cluster randomised trial in which general practices have been randomised to receive a complex intervention to improve prescribing safety at different times over one year, with outcomes measured at patient level. The analysis will require the use of mixed modelling, and you will be trained and supported in implementing this if you are not already experienced, although experience is preferable.
The post is research focused. The key result area for the post is the delivery of the primary and secondary analyses of the trial findings, and supporting the economic analysis of cost-effectiveness. You will additionally contribute as an author to the writing of the final reports and any papers for peer-reviewed publication, and where appropriate will be first author based on contribution and writing the first draft.
In discussion with Professors Guthrie and Donnan, limited input to undergraduate or postgraduate teaching may be required or can be arranged if you would like to gain teaching experience.
Limited administrative duties may be required as part of your contribution to wider divisional activities.
