Applications are invited for a Research Fellowship in Psychology. The project, led by Professor Mike Burton, aims to understand aspects of face recognition in both theoretical and applied settings. The post will involve computational and experimental research, and candidates should have a strong background in programming.

The Research Fellow will work on the computational modelling part of the project, primarily applying statistical operations (e.g. PCA) to graphical representations of faces. The project also has experimental and applied strands and these will involve working with the security services and police. The Research Fellow will be expected to work as part of a team, integrating the experimental work with other strands of the project.

Applicants should have a PhD in Psychology, or cognate discipline, and proven expertise in programming, preferably in Matlab.  Knowledge of graphical analysis would be an advantage. Applicants should also have experience in experimental techniques

As this post is funded by ERC it will be offered for a period of 4 years.  This appointment will be made subject to the usual terms and conditions of employment of the University.

Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 6 salary scale (£30,424 - £33,230 per annum) with placement according to qualifications and experience. The appointment will be made subject to the usual terms and conditions of employment of the University.
