IE University invites applications for full time Law Professor permanent position.

Job/Position description: Candidates should possess a willingness and ability to teach undergraduate courses in the area of comparative law with a Civil law / Common law perspective, either in public or private law area. Experience in the following areas will be highly valued:

- Business law
- International law
- Global law / Transnational law
- Contracts / Torts

The post is a Lecturer / Senior Lecturer or equivalent career level position within IE Law School and is designed for those who are committed to an academic legal career in an international and innovative environment.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Development and delivery of undergraduate courses with an international and practice oriented focus using innovative methodologies (including active methodology and on line teaching).
  • Contribute to the planning and organization of teaching activities.
  • Academic administration and management roles, involving departmental administrative responsibilities concerning student services, student recruitment and advice.
  • Act as personal advisor to students.
  • Undertake high quality research in Law.
  • Attend and participate in appropriate research seminars/conferences within law-related areas.

Requirements: Candidates should have a desire to develop innovative learning experiences and be dedicated to excellence in teaching, with a strong commitment to high professional standards, both in and outside the classroom. Entrepreneurial spirit would be highly valued.

Education

  • Required Qualifications:  Ph.D. in a relevant area of law.
  • Professional legal qualification will be highly valued.

Knowledge and skills

  • Specialist knowledge in a relevant area of law. Knowledge in both Civil law and Common law will be highly valued.
  • Basic teaching skills.
  • Understanding of current issues in Law and Higher Education in an international level.
  • Fluency in English and some knowledge of Spanish are required.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability and willingness to initiate and sustain collaborations with stakeholders.

Experience

  • Proven research according to experience.
  • Some experience in teaching.

Personal characteristics

  • Able to work as part of a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work to and meet deadlines.

The University Campus

Segovia Campus: Housed by the former Convent of Santa Cruz la Real. Madrid Campus: Situated in the heart of Madrid’s financial district, a strategic location that is very well-communicated. The Madrid campus has a surface area of some 20,000m2 distributed among 17 buildings located in a district of Madrid, known as the Barrio de Salamanca.
