The Institute for Telecommunications Research (ITR) is Australia’s largest University based telecommunications research and development organisation. Founded in 1994, the Institute is internationally recognised for excellence in the areas of information theory, error control coding, mobile broadband, cellular, wireless and satellite communications. The Institute’s research and development activities span a wide spectrum ranging from fundamental research to modeling and simulation through to commercialisation of wireless technologies, including hardware, software and firmware development.
We are seeking to strengthen our existing research capacity and to expand into new areas of wireless communications networks.
The Research Professor is expected to be recognised as a leading authority in wireless communication networks and will have made substantial and highly original contributions to the area. The incumbent is responsible in providing leadership and in fostering excellence in research and play a leading role in their discipline including research education within ITR and the University.
As a senior member of the Institute, you will provide academic leadership in formulation of strategic research directions in the area of wireless communications. Your active research record of quality publications and grants will enable you to successfully attract and supervise Higher Degree Research students and deliver high quality research outcomes.
Your ability to actively engage in independent and collaborative research that results in substantial body of original high quality, high impact research outcomes will further assist you to foster excellence in research and research education. You will have demonstrated success in establishing research interactions with industry and developing partnerships between academia, industry, the community and the profession.
