Salary: £21,092 - £28,387 per annum

HNR conducts nutrition research and surveillance to improve the health of the population with a focus on obesity and metabolic risk, musculoskeletal health, intestinal health and nutritional inequalities.

We wish to appoint an Assistant Laboratory & Facilities Manager to join a small team providing support services to the staff at HNR.

Duties will include:

  • Arranging service engineers to carry out routine servicing / repairs and statutory testing of equipment
  • To be the first point of contact for visiting engineers and contractors.
  • Arranging the correct disposal of various waste streams.   
  • Maintaining the asset/inventory register
  • Ordering goods & service through Oracle system
  • Changing compressed gas cylinders
  • Setting up meeting rooms, relocating equipment & furniture
  • Covering the duties of other team members in their absence (including driving)
  • Accurate record keeping is essential in this post

The post holder must be adaptable as the workload is varied and priorities can change at short notice.  This post includes some manual handling so applicants must be physically fit.  The post holder will need to be flexible as occasional work at weekends will be required.  A valid driving licence is essential.  Applicants must be proficient in the use of Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet Explorer.

Applicants for this post should have proven experience of working in a laboratory or building maintenance environment and ideally educated to A level in a science or engineering related subject.

This is a full time, open ended position, line managed by Diane Searle.
