Applications are invited for a Post-doctoral research associate funded by a BRIC (Bioprocessing Research Industry Club, BBSRC) grant to analyse proteomics and transcriptomics data using machine learning methods in order to rationalise the expression of biopharmaceutical products in Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO) clones producing recombinant proteins. The project will investigate sequence features that influence the efficiency of translation and the stability of the proteins in industrial bioprocess environments. The appointee will work with Professor David James, Dr Mark Dickman, Dr Paul Dobson, Dr Josselin Noirel (Chemical and Biological Engineering) and Prof Neil Lawrence (Department of Computer Science) in the newly refurbished Sir Robert Hadfield Building in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering.
You will hold a PhD in mathematics/computer science, preferably applied to biological problems (or have equivalent experience) and possess extensive experience in machine learning techniques and handling large, noisy datasets.
