This is an exciting opportunity to join a multidisciplinary research team studying therapeutic protein production. This work is funded as part of a three-year research grant awarded from BRIC (Bioprocessing Research Industry Club) BBSRC. This multidisciplinary project comprises Professor David James, Dr Mark Dickman, Dr Paul Dobson, Dr Josselin Noirel (Chemical and Biological Engineering) and Prof Neil Lawrence (Department of Computer Science). The project will focus on predicting protein production rate from mRNA sequence. The project will aim to quantify the turnover (synthesis and degradation rates) of thousands of CHO cell mRNAs and proteins in parallel during fed-batch culture of a model CHO cell line using high throughput transcriptomic and proteomic approaches.

Applicants should hold a PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant aspect of biological/physical science, have experience of designing and developing research, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Applicants should have experience in quantitative mass spectrometry analysis.
