The Institute of Biological, Environmental and Rural Sciences (IBERS) is a world class research, enterprise and education centre at Aberystwyth University. It is an internationally recognised centre of excellence and students' choice for the study of biological, environmental and rural sciences.
In support of our on-going mission to support pasture based agriculture, we wish to appoint a Chair/Reader in Nutritional Physiology. The post holder will help develop a multidisciplinary approach to nutritional physiology in the dairy cow and be expected to develop links to dairy industry and its supply chains leading to significant external grant capture.
The post‐holder will contribute to all areas of the Department’s activity, including research, teaching, and administration but with the major focus on research. The post‐holder will have an excellent research record compatible with the purpose of the post, and will be expected to undertake and encourage research of world leading quality. The post‐holder is also expected to work closely with the recently established Centre of Excellence for UK Farming (CEUKF) working across the complete supply chain to promote sustainability in agricultural production
IBERS was formed by the amalgamation of the Institutes of Rural Sciences and Biological Sciences at Aberystwyth University, and the Institute of Grassland and Environmental Research (IGER). Around 300 research, teaching and support staff conduct basic, strategic and applied research in biology from the level of genes and other molecules to the impact of climate change and bio-energy on sustainable agriculture and land use. The Institute also provides high level research and skills training. There is formal collaboration with the College of Natural Sciences, Bangor University.
