Salary: £21,092 - £28,387 per annum
HNR conducts nutrition research and surveillance to improve the health of the population with a focus on musculoskeletal health, obesity and metabolic risk, intestinal health and nutritional inequalities.
The aim of the Nutrition and Bone Health Group (NBH) is to identify the role of nutrition and lifestyle in the optimisation of bone health and the reduction of osteoporosis and rickets risk within the wider context of nutrition policy for calcium and vitamin D in developed and developing countries.
We wish to appoint a Research Assistant to join the Nutrition and Bone Health Group. This varied role will include responsibility for the-day-to-day coordination of logistics for research studies at HNR and in collaboration with external parties. This includes participant recruitment, musculo-skeletal and other physiological measurements and handling of biological samples; data management and analysis; contribution to writing of ethics applications and project reports.
You will work according to requirements of REC and R&D Trust, Good Research Practice, Good Clinical Practice, ISO Accreditation, Human Tissue Act.
You should be educated to at least degree level with a good working knowledge of human physiology, and relevant work experience, preferably in a research environment and/or project management working with volunteers or patients. You should be good a team player with a flexible approach and problem-solving skills. A professional manner is required as well as good interpersonal, IT, and administrative skills.
This is a full time, open-ended position with salary dependent on qualifications and experience. In addition to your salary we offer a flexible pay and reward policy, 30 days annual leave, free on site car parking and optional membership of MRC’s final salary pension scheme.
