Through the creation of effective links with governments, organisations and institutions and by responding to the health needs of communities, LSTM aims to promote improved health, particularly for people of the less developed / resource poorest countries in the tropics and sub-tropics.
To meet the challenges of ensuring that LSTM is compliant with Freedom of Information (FoI) legislation we are seeking to recruit an experienced individual to act as a key point of contact on all aspects of FoI as well as assisting us in our statutory obligations by implementing procedures, policies and practices across the organisation.
This is a newly created role and will provide the opportunity to support the Head of Information Services in providing a comprehensive service across the organisation and in addition to the above, duties will include: ensuring that a professional approach is adopted to FoI processes and requests are handled in a timely manner; carrying out an information audit; developing a publication scheme to meet the relevant legislation requirements of the FoI; implementing an FoI awareness programme including providing training and ensuring staff are kept up to date with regards to all issues surrounding information governance.
Educated to degree level or equivalent, you will have proven experience of holding a similar role and will have implemented and maintained an FoI system and have demonstrable experience of query handling and providing guidance to external requestors. The post will necessitate that the successful candidate understands, appreciates, communicates and manages the implementation of all relevant and mandatory FoI duties across the organisation.
Establishing trust and credibility with service users is a crucial aspect of the role and it is essential that you have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to develop effective working relationships both internally and externally. Alongside these skills you will use your knowledge of FoI to write policies and practices within agreed timeframes so the ability to organise your workload and deliver results is essential.
