The Department of Media Arts and Communication is part of the 'Faculty of Arts, Computing, Engineering and Sciences at Sheffield Hallam University. We are committed to high standards of teaching, research and professionalism, while fostering a supportive and collaborative community for both students and employees. We are a multi-disciplinary, enthusiastic team located at the University's City Campus in the midst of Sheffield's vibrant Cultural Industries Quarter. We actively maintain strong links to industry and professional bodies as well as local agencies. Around 35,500 students are enrolled at Sheffield Hallam, with 4000 staff whose research and business ideas contribute to the economic and social development of both our region and the UK as a whole.

You will play an important role in shaping the direction of the existing curriculum through direct involvement in developing specialist provision and course management within the Department's portfolio of programmes in the areas of Public Relations, Journalism and Media and its CIPR recognised courses in Public Relations.

We're looking for an experienced and highly motivated professional, ready to teach and supervise students, contribute to curriculum development and take part in other scholarly activities. We're interested in individuals who are able to operate effectively within the university environment whilst also demonstrating the ability to connect with external partners and businesses. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential for this post, both when working with colleagues and partners and liaising with students.

The ability to design and deliver innovative, high quality learning experiences that inspire and motivate students is a key aspect of this role. Relevant professional experience and qualifications are also essential together with a post-graduate degree, while a Doctorate in Public Relations or a related discipline is desirable.

We're particularly interested in applications from those who have experience of how new media is redefining Public Relations.
