£36,298 - £44,607 per annum, depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance. 

Applications are invited for the above post based at The Horizon Digital Economy Research Institute which was established with initial funding of £12m from RCUK. This interdisciplinary and interuniversity research institute engages in Digital Economy research and the delivery of PhD training offered by the Horizon Doctoral Training Centre, itself an £8m investment. Horizon comprises over 35+ researchers, 20 co-investigators and nearly 10 support staff.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the operations of the Horizon Institute and will be part of a senior management team, involving Prof Derek McAuley (Director), Prof Tom Rodden (Deputy Director) and other senior staff. This complex role involves liaising with various schools within the University but acts independently of the associated schools, the role co-ordinates with the Transformation Manager within Horizon who has responsibility for knowledge exchange, partner engagement, project management and outcome reporting, the role is also the primary interface with the University's Professional Service departments. The role-holder is responsible for financial and administrative management for all research and postgraduate training activities, with the main objectives of maintaining efficient Institute systems, maximising use of research funding, ensuring compliance with funding regulations and continuity for staff and students. The role-holder is also responsible for all collaboration activities with academic partners in the University, the UK and Europe, as well as coordinating Institute activities in liaison with the academic directors, forecasting and managing a large and growing portfolio of individual project budgets for the Institute.

Candidates must have a relevant degreeor equivalent, plus significant hands-on experience in similar or related roles and have personnel management experience, strong negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills as well as in-depth knowledge of university processes and procedures.

This full-time post will be offered on a fixed-term contract until the 30 April 2016. This post is open to job share.
