An exciting opportunity exists for a self-motivated and professional IT professional. Working within the Infrastructure Services Team you will be expected to make significant contributions to the planning, design, development, promotion, operation and review of server systems and storage within the University.
Applicants should have a degree or postgraduate qualification in information science or a related discipline, and have demonstrable experience in Systems Administration and in the provision of a wide range of infrastructure services in a large, complex organisation. You will have:
- Significant experience of server operating systems (Linux and Windows Server 2008), systems software and related tools and techniques;
- hands-on experience of Debian/Ubuntu Linux is highly desirable;
- experience of managing and implementing virtual server infrastructure (VMWare), large-scale storage servers (or SAN), Microsoft Exchange 2007 and systems management tools;
- excellent analytical and problem solving skills;
- excellent planning, organisational and prioritising skills;
- excellent communication skills; and
- good project management skills.
The successful candidate will also be expected to maintain a high level of continuing professional development, transferring knowledge and skills back into the workplace as appropriate.
