Postgraduate Co-ordinator

The Role
The School of Economics are seeking to appoint a full time Postgraduate Co-ordinator to cover maternity leave for a period of 11 months.
Working as part of the administrative team in the Economics General Office, this role will principally provide support for the School’s postgraduate programmes and students.
The post holder will be expected to have or to gain a detailed knowledge of the School’s postgraduate programmes, and of the University’s admission, progression and examination procedures. They will also be required to offer some cover for the student reception counter as and when required.
The Person
You will hold GCSE Maths and English (Grade C or above) or equivalent and have extensive administrative experience.
You will have experience of working in a busy office with multiple customers, have frequently changing priorities and peak workloads.
We are also looking for someone who possesses excellent interpersonal skills along with the ability to work confidently and diplomatically with people at all levels, from students to senior management.

The Department
The School has a strong research culture, ranked 16th in Research Assessment Exercise 2008, and a good reputation for teaching and learning, in the top five for student satisfaction in the National Student Survey for the past three years. The School has well established single honours and joint honours degree programmes and a lively graduate programme with seven MSc and two MPhil/PhD programmes of study.
The School has a strong community of currently 24 academic staff, 650 undergraduate students, 30-40 postgraduate taught students and 33 PhD students and researchers. The School also provides service teaching for other Schools on campus has an undergraduate FTE load of 710. The focus of undergraduate activity is the General Office, which provides excellent administrative support and a high level of service for both students and staff.
