The School of Psychology at Plymouth University is looking to recruit a Research Assistant / Research Fellow in Developmental or Social Psychology.
You will be employed on an ESRC grant (RES-000-22-3886) to work on the development of punishment, emotions, and attentional control under the supervision of Dr. Michaela Gummerum (Plymouth University), Dr. Lotte van Dillen, and Professor Eric Van Dijk (both Leiden University, NL). This research involves carrying out behavioural economic experiments with children, adolescents, and adults over a three-year period in the Psychology Lab facilities and local schools. It also involves taking an active part in recruiting participants, travelling between the participating institutions, and disseminating findings to academic and non-academic audiences.
You will be expected to hold a M.Sc. in Developmental, Social, or Experimental Psychology. You will have experience in running empirical studies with school-aged children or adolescents and have excellent knowledge of quantitative data analyses (SPSS or other statistical packages). Knowledge of behavioural economic research and/or children’s and adolescents’ social development would be welcome.
The position will be located at the School of Psychology, Plymouth University. The School hosts the Centre for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour, which forms part of the multidisciplinary Cognition Research Institute. The centre has active research groups in Developmental and Social Psychology, Health and Well Being, Cognitive Neuroscience, Thinking and Reasoning, Memory, and Vision. These groups are housed in recently-built dedicated research facilities, and supported by a team of technicians and scientific officers. This post is a full-time position working 37 hours per week on a fixed-term basis for 36 months, starting August 1, 2013.
