Programme Officer
Academy of Medical Sciences
£20-24,000
From its foundation, the Academy of Medical Sciences has put early-career biomedical researchers at the centre of its work. We have led the way in partnering with organisations to develop and deliver a number of grant schemes and activities designed to support and develop the next generation of researchers.
The Academy of Medical Sciences is now seeking a Programme Officer to join its Biomedical Grants and Policy team at its central London head office.
Today’s medical students are a vital source of tomorrow’s leaders in medical research. The Academy has recently expanded its activities to inspire these students with the possibilities of a research career under the INSPIRE scheme, generously supported by the Wellcome Trust.
The Programme Officer will be responsible for the further development, implementation and administration of the scheme together with a range of activities to inform and enthuse medical students, and others, about the opportunities of a research career.
You will be educated to first degree level and have some experience of organising schemes or events and developing external contacts.
This post will be available from 1 September 2013.
As a member of the Academy’s dynamic Biomedical Grants and Policy team, this role will also include providing administrative assistance to a portfolio of other activities to support doctors and scientists already involved in research. Excellent communication skills are a key attribute for the post. General knowledge of medical research and the UK healthcare sector is desirable, but not essential.
The full job specification for the post is available on the Academy web site: by clicking the APPLY button below.
To apply, send a CV and covering letter explaining how you fulfil the specification for the job, to info@acmedsci.ac.uk
The closing date for receipt of applications is Friday 10 May 2013 at 5.00 pm.
Interviews will be held in central London on 29 or 30 May.
