Job Summary: An associate with a background in developing, programming and supporting business information systems is sought to develop a ‘data observatory’ for the sharing of data in support of policy formulation and decision making within the Education, Culture and Sport Directorate of Aberdeen City Council.
The initial focus of the project will be on the development of a ‘data observatory’ to support the preparation and use of data gathered as part of the ‘Children & Young People’s Audit’. The aim of this audit is to compile information on the range of educational, cultural and sports services available to young people across Aberdeen City.
Since you will be required to take the project from design through BETA testing to wider roll-out, you will need to have the following:
- experience of scoping, developing, and testing software projects;
- appropriate programming experience for web-based applications;
- an understanding of the principles of technological design and product related specifications for building business information systems; and
- experience of working with end-user requirements for prototype development.
Whilst the job holder will be employed and supported by the University of Aberdeen, the location for the work will be Aberdeen City Council and the designated place of employment will be in Aberdeen.
You will be a graduate, ideally in a computer science or information systems discipline with a 2:1 Hons or better. You will have an interest in information systems and their application in business and decision-making.
Salary range will be £20,000 to £21,000 per annum, with placement according to qualifications and experience. A personal development budget is also included in the post.
The post is offered for a period of 24 months.
