Summary:
This position is funded by the NERC Resource Recovery from Waste programme which aims to meet global challenges around the use of natural resources. The programme vision is to deliver the strategic science needed to accomplish a paradigm shift in the recovery of resources from waste that is driven by environmental benefits and for human health.

The major role of the post will be to develop a network of interdisciplinary expertise, with both academic and industrial partners. It will be essential to involve organizations involved in input (sources) and output (users) e.g. farmers, environment agency, water industry, agriculture etc. And it must also involve society e.g. Lake protection groups, lake users, tourist boards.

The role will also involve data and evidence gathering on eutrophic fresh water systems in the UK and quantitative interpretation to predict useful resource recovery using a novel ecological engineering technology.

The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate across traditional subject boundaries and disseminate scientific information at international meetings. The successful candidate will have excellent project management and organisation skills to coordinate network members and meetings. Experience of ecosystems ecology is desirable, but a strong interest in environmental issues is essential.
