HNR conducts nutrition research and surveillance to improve the health of the population with a focus on musculoskeletal health, obesity and metabolic risk, intestinal health and nutritional inequalities.

We wish to appoint a Research Assistant/Research Technician to undertake Real Time PCR analysis in the MRC Biomineral Research Programme on Nanominerals. Cellular analyses at the gene level, facilitated by Real Time PCR techniques, are especially required for the BMR work on ‘Self Assembled Endogenous Nanoparticles of The Gastrointestinal Tract’.

You will assist in the investigation of self-assembled endogenous particles of the gastrointestinal tract through both cellular isolation & stimulation tissue culture techniques and perform real time PCR analysis of cellular outcomes.

Applicants will have a BSc (or equivalent) in cellular biology or related subjects and at least 18 months laboratory work experience in real time PCR techniques. Experience in cell culture techniques is also desirable but not essential. You should be good a team player with a flexible approach and problem-solving skills. A professional manner is required as well as good interpersonal and IT skills.

This is a full time position offered on a 6 month fixed term contract with salary dependant on qualifications and experience.
