University of Oxford -William Dunn School of Pathology

South Parks Road, Oxford

Grade 7: £29,541 - £36,298 p.a.

The James Martin Stem Cell facility is located within the new £30 million Oxford Molecular Pathology Institute within the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology. It is affiliated to the Oxford Stem Cell Institute (http://www.stemcells.ox.ac.uk/). The Facility specialises in the production and maintenance of human induced Pluripotent Stem (iPS) cells, and their application as model systems for studying the basic cellular biology of human disease. In addition to its own research interests in macrophage biology, the Facility has wide-ranging collaborations within the University and beyond. It is closely associated with the Oxford Parkinson's Disease Centre (http://opdc.medsci.ox.ac.uk/). It is also part of the EU Innovative Medicine Initiative StemBANCC consortium (http://stembancc.org/), which involves nine Oxford departments, within which it plays a major role in iPSc generation, genome editing of iPSc lines, and improving expansion and differentiation protocols.

The postholder will contribute to the research efforts of the Facility. The post is funded by the Wellcome Trust Institutional Strategic Support Fund, and as such, he/she will be primarily engaged in developing, managing and executing collaborative research projects involving the generation, differentiation and study of human iPSc lines with other research groups across Oxford. The post would suit an enthusiastic cell biologist who is meticulous in their approach, highly responsible and enjoys collaborative research. The post is currently funded until February 2016.

Applications will not be accepted after the closing date of 12.00 midday on 15 May 2013. Applications should be made online and include a CV and cover letter.
