Human cardiac 31P magnetic resonance spectroscopy at 7T

We are seeking applicants for the position of Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join the developing cardiac spectroscopy group at the Oxford Centre for Clinical Magnetic Resonance Research (OCMR). You will develop cutting-edge methods for cardiac 31P spectroscopy, validate them and facilitate their roll out to clinical research in the department.

OCMR took delivery of the UK's first cardiac-capable 7 Tesla MRI scanner just over a year ago, and you will play a critical role in exploiting the full potential of this new hardware. You will hold a PhD in physics, chemistry or engineering (or in another subject that provides a solid grounding in MR physics), and have proven working knowledge of magnetic resonance spectroscopy and/or imaging. Computer programming skills (ideally including C++, Matlab and Excel) are essential. You will have a track record of publication in scientific journals and be able to demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills. Knowledge of magnetic resonance theory and practical experience running an MR scanner would be advantageous but are not essential.

This full-time appointment is available immediately for 3 years in the first instance and is based at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford. The project is funded by a Sir Henry Dale Fellowship awarded to Dr Chris Rodgers by the Royal Society and the Wellcome Trust. For an informal discussion regarding the position please contact Dr Chris Rodgers (christopher.rodgers@cardiov.ox.ac.uk).

Only applications received before 12.00 midday on Friday 10 May 2013 can be considered. Interviews are scheduled for the week commencing Monday 27 May 2013.
