Immpact a team from the University of Aberdeen is world-renowned for its expertise in research, evaluation and capacity building essential for the development and delivery of effective programmes to reduce maternal and newborn mortality in low and middle income countries. We are currently seeking a full time Research Fellow who will provide high quality research and training expertise in support of Immpact’s current and future research, training and consultancy activities, business processes and projects. Working as a full member of the team, the postholder will assist in maintaining and developing Immpact’s reputation and profile, through excellent internal and external communications, as well as the high standard of performance and delivery.
The postholder will have particular responsibility for the University of Aberdeen’s core research and training input to three specific projects:
- A MacArthur Foundation funded project to strengthen the capacity of the Department of Community Medicine at Ahmada Bello University (ABU), Nigeria, to take a leadership role in Nigeria for policy relevant maternal and newborn public health research and teaching.
- A mid-term evaluation of the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) funded programmes to strengthen maternal and newborn health and reproductive health in DCR, Sierra Leone, Burkina Faso, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
- A MacArthur funded project to enhance accountability for maternal health outcomes in Nigeria through audit.

As this post is funded by MacArthur Foundation and the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) it will be offered for a period of 29 months.
Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 7 salary scale (£37,382 - £39,649 per annum) with placement according to qualifications and experience.
