ABOUT US
London Metropolitan University is implementing new approaches and tools to deliver an innovative and holistic approach to the use of management information. The Higher Education sector is rapidly changing and it is essential that the Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE) provide accurate and timely internal and external information to inform operational and strategic decisions. New types of data are required by stakeholders to help predict market and student behaviour to enable the University to take quick action.
The Policy and Data Analyst will be responsible for monitoring the external environment for funding or policy changes that might be opportunities or challenges to the University.
Advice, guidance and changes to regulatory returns need to be monitored and analysed for their impact on the University. The post will ensure this information is communicated and where necessary, changes are implemented across the University in an efficient and effective manner. The post will work with colleagues to ensure all key returns are completed on time to a high quality.
The OIE is part of the Vice-chancellor’s office, however, the Policy and Data Analyst will work closely with Academic Registry, Finance, Faculties and Information Systems and Services.
ABOUT THE POST
To be successful, you will have excellent understanding of the UK higher education environment and regulatory requirements.
The ability to communicate complex data regarding the University and its context to a range of stakeholders in appropriate formats is essential.
Excellent listening, written and verbal communication skills are essential. You will need to keep up to date with and understand on-going changes to external regulatory requirements and explain the impacts to diverse audiences. The ability to format and present complex information effectively is critical.
You will monitor how funding changes will impact the University and ensure the University is complying with all requirements of any funding received and collaborating with Finance on forecasting future funding.
You will have the ability to monitoring the status of all statutory returns throughout the year to a high level and ensure all deadlines are met to a suitable standard.
You will have well developed analytical skills as well as an acumen for data and statistics.
Experience of UK Higher Education regulatory returns including HESES, HESA, KIS, NSS, and/or DLHE and experience using a University course and student information management system is essential.
